Automotive Technology - SCTC Campus
The Auto Electrical/Electronics System Technician program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose, service, and repair basic electrical/electronic automotive systems as an entry-level technician. The Auto Chassis Technician Specialist program provides students with skills needed to enter the automotive industry as an entry-level chassis technician. Students have an opportunity to earn two of these certificates and go immediately into the workforce or continue on to finish their diploma or associate degree. This Sequence of Courses qualifies for the Accelerated Career Pathway which offers qualified students a unique path to high school graduation. Students choose to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and two (2) Technical Certificates of Credit (TCC’s) in a specific career pathway.

REQUIRED COURSES:
AUTT 1010 - Automotive Technology Introduction: Introduces basic concepts and practices necessary for safe and effective automotive shop operations. Topics include: safety procedures; legal/ethical responsibilities; general service; hand tools; shop organization, management, and workflow systems.
AUTT 1020 - Automotive Electrical Systems: Introduces automotive electricity, emphasizes the basic principles, diagnosis, and service/repair of batteries, starting systems, starting system components, alternators and regulators, lighting system, gauges, horn, wiper/washer, and accessories.
AUTT 1030 - Automotive Brake Systems: Introduces brake systems theory and its application to automotive systems and anti-lock brake system (ABS) to include ABS components and ABS operation, testing, and diagnosis.
AUTT 1050 - Automotive Suspension and Steering Systems: Introduces students to principles of steering, suspension, wheel alignment, electronic steering, and electronic active suspension.
